WOODWORKING CLASSES
The Plant Pot Stand
Dates: Friday 16th February 12-6pm

Got a plant sitting around somewhere that you think would benefit from a loftier position? Wanting to learn intermediate woodworking skills? Matthew Hutcheson is here to help. Teaching more advanced woodwork skills over two classes, you’ll learn to craft a bespoke piece starting by machining rough timber down to size and learning how to create the perfect joint under expert instruction and supervision.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS AN ALL DAY, 6hr CLASS, WITH A 30min BREAK IN THE MIDDLE.
Tablet Dock or Desk Tidy
Dates: Tuesday March 12th. 6-9pm
Cost: £40/45 (discount for members)
Tablet dock or office tidy. Beginner class. This is a more creative free flowing class. Each participant will choose a piece of locally sourced hardwood and design and make a tablet / phone dock, or an office tidy or a letter / photo stand. You will learn how to cut, sand and finish hardwood to a high sheen. Let your creativity shine in this beginner joinery class.
Patio Stepped Planter
Dates: Tues 7th May , 6-9pm,
Cost: £40/45 (discount for members)
The Stepped planter is an intermediate joinery class. Further develop your skills on the chop saw, hand saw, table saw and templates to create the perfect patio planter for strawberries, herbs or flowers. NOTE: This class is suitable for people with experience, have attended a previous woodwork class and/or BTL Induction session.
Repair-a-Chair
Dates: Tuesday 27th February 6-9pm,
Cost: £40/45 (discount for members)
Fine furniture craftsman Matthew has broken some donated chairs and in this class will teach you how to fix them with tips, tricks and techniques that can be applied to other items of wooden furniture. Learn how to mend joints, cracks and refinish surfaces, allowing you to breath life back into tired objects. Matthew also invites you to bring your own wooden furniture to discuss and repair if time allows.
The Herb Planter/Bird Box
Dates: Tuesday 9th April 6-9pm
Cost: £40/45 (discount for members)
Window herb planter or beautiful bird box - the choice is yours! Local craftsman Matthew will take you on an instructional journey to craft a project of your choice for your outside spaces. Learn how to measure, mark, cut and join pieces of timber to create something special. Come with an open mind and leave with a place to grow herbs or raise the next generation of garden songbird. No previous experience is needed.

Come to this brand new class to learn basic willow weaving techniques and make a fish shape and Eye of God or Mexican Eye. Learning the crisscrossing techniques in 4 directions to create your own piece of natural art. These skills provide a great place to start learning the craft of willow weaving. Seasoned woodcrafter Craig will teach you the basic skills of what it takes to weave willow. Your journey can begin here…

Plant Pots

Are you sick of plastic plant pots littering up your outdoor spaces? Talented local maker Chris Campbell-Palmer sure is. Luckily for us, he has the skills to make plant pots that can last a lifetime and he's willing to share those skills with you. Get involved in the curious art of casting and go home with a new home for your plants. No previous experience needed.
ELECTRONICS CLASSES
Computerised Woodworking (CNC)

It’s finally here! The TWO CLASS build that you’ve all been waiting for! Introduction to computerised woodwork using a laptop design package and a CNC machine. This is the big one! Attendees will be guided by none other than Prof Steve Potter as they design and carve their very own wooden masterpiece using CAD and CNC technology. The first class will be the design element, using your own laptop to put your creative flair to the test. The second class will be transferring that design into the CNC machine and watching it work, learning more about the process as you go. The only limit is your imagination. And the time. Obviously.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ATTENDANTS MUST COME TWO BOTH CLASSES AND MUST HAVE A WINDOWS LAPTOP THAT THEY CAN BRING WITH THEM.
EACH CLASS WILL BE 4.5hrs LONG WITH A 30min BREAK IN THE MIDDLE.
